Decals just look way to cheap. Should have went for the real emblem

Look cheap? I think they look great. Sure emblems would be nice and maybe I will get them one day, but $7 vs over $40 (plus either buying 3M tape or drilling holes in a new vehicle... nah).

I think they look super nice, and unlike "proper" emblems if you get tired of them or decide to change the look...just peel them off carefully and do something else. If you decide to "upgrade" to emblems of the permanent type, you can always go that route, but I'd always use 3M trim and emblem tape instead of drilling holes. Any new hole is just an invitation for rust to start even if you're careful about priming and painting the holes.

Yeah, my idea was that if I liked them, I would use the 3M tape to put on replicas of the "proper" emblems. I live in an area with lots of winter and salt, so no drilling holes for me. I am going to have the HHR properly undercoated by a company that is all they do. The undercoating is a waxy compound and they remove all the door panels and spray inside the doors. They will also provide a warranty. This company has been in business for decades and they are well known for their workmanship. So hopefully, I won't have to worry about rust.... for quite some time.

Just make sure that they are super careful not to block any drain holes in the doors, if they get blocked you'll end up with issues years down the road.

For the drain holes, I believe the company takes care of that also, but I was going to check with them. I had a used car undercoated with them years ago and they would warranty it from any rust for as long as I owned it. I figure they are doing something right if they have been in business this long. Better than the dealership's attempt to undercoat. And I really hate when places drill holes in the doors and fenders to spray.

I think the old school looking decals are very cool.
