well since I have a red ss with the red and black interior i thought it would look cool to do the headliner red and i am also painting the A-pillars black and the seatbelt pillars black with the slides red. it looking ok but as i learned from experience dont try to dye the headlines they are a weird type of fabric that does not absorb well. paint it if anything. i will post pictures when i am finished!!!!!!!

 

Yeah...the fabric used will not accept much more dye, it is dyed pretty heavily while still in the thread stages and then woven into fabric. The company I work for actually makes the headliner for the HHR, as well as the visors. The fabric is pretty specialized stuff that is woven for the correct elongation in order to form the contours smoothly. But if you are in need of a headliner, I am sure I can find you one at much less than the GM service parts...LOL. The paint should work fine, as long as you are careful if you ever need to clean it.

They have a great selection of healiner materials. You have to cut and fit yourself, but if you pull the existing headliner and use it as a template then use 3M adhesive77 to glue it to the existing headliner and put it back, it's easy and looks good!
