Looking for advice on running boards...
Just replaced my SOM '07 HHR with an "Arctic Ice" '10 HHR Panel which does not have running boards. I'm contemplating having them installed, but this would involve the extra step of having them painted as it's my understanding that they don't come in white. Since I will be adding red as an accent color (bowtie overlays, script lettering on the grill, pinstripping, etc etc) I was wondering if adding Victory Red running boards would complement the look.. or if it would spoil it. If not red, how about black? Opinions? I'm sure there must be many out there!
Red would definitely stand out, and if you are going for accents, well there's one right there. Remember this Doc, it's all in what you want. Personally, I think it would be nifty to have a contrasting color for my running boards. Black would also go good, but black goes with most anything anyway.. IMHO if you are going to accent with red bowties and other red accents, go for it with the running boards. And another suggestion of mine would be to get molded mud flaps for the HHR. I have a set on mine that came with it from the dealer. 100% glad they are there. Helps keep the dust and dirt off it.
For a color theme to work, you would have to do more than just the running boards...and since there are no lips on the front and rear covers I would say no. Also white and red are not the right colors.
Blue and black...yes.

That's my opinion anyway...

Color schemes aside, for me visually the HHR running board would look better as a two tone if the front and back section were body color with just the center (running board section) done in the contrasting color. The shape of our running boards lends the eye to think that front and back section are actually part of the "fenders" if you get my drift.
