Lightbulb Painting the interior

Hey guys. I have decided my first mod is to color match parts of my dash Some people suggested to me buy a dash kit and paint it. Others said just paint over what you have to save money. I found a site that offers the following
Spray Can Kit
Useage ==> Larger areas (up to six square feet for each can) that require spray painting.

Qty Description Cost
1 12.5 oz. Basecoat Spray Can 24.95
1 12.5 oz. Clearcoat Spray Can 10.95
1 2 oz. Rubbing Compound Bottle 3.50
1 2 oz. Wax and Grease Remover 1.80
1 2 oz. Acrylic Lacquer Thinner 1.75
Total (before shipping) 42.95

Spray Can Kit (non-metal)
Useage ==> Non metal areas such as bumpers and trim that require proper adhesion. Up to six square feet for each can. Bulldog Adhesion primer is required for this application.

Qty Description Cost
1 12.5 oz. Basecoat Spray Can 24.95
1 12.5 oz. Clearcoat Spray Can 10.95
1 2 oz. Rubbing Compound Bottle 3.50
1 12 oz. Bulldog Adhesion Promoter 10.95
1 2 oz. Wax and Grease Remover 1.80
1 2 oz. Acrylic Lacquer Thinner 1.75
Total (before shipping) 53.90

What do I actually need to do this and is the price right. My dealer said they cannot get my paint until a full order has been reached which is a full 12 cans?? is there a guide to a step by step process on painting the interior. This is what I want to do. i know it is someone elses work but hay it looks awesome.

the paint used for that project was from the dealer. The kit you're looking at is the same one I used for the outside of my car. It doesnt have the same shine as the dealer paint. You will need to prep that area you want to paint (clean and tape off area you dont want paint to adhere to). From what I remember last time an 8oz can of paint from the dealer runs for $15.

You can find most of the stuff you have listed at any auto parts supply store, and even Wal-Mart.

I use duplicolor products for primer, paint, and clear. You can get them for about $5 per can. I'm not sure what color HHR you have, but I would imagine that most GM colors are available by duplicolor. Maybe not the sunburst orange, and "maybe" the amethyst and blue, but the others should be readily available. I bought Victory Red for my HHR just last weekend. Just go down to the autoparts store and check them out.

Bulldog and the wax and grease remover should be there as well, and cheaper. $1.80 for wax and grease remover is crazy! I bought a huge can of it for about $7.

What's the lacquer thinner for????
