Paintjob Ideas

I was toying around in Photoshop looking for a color combination I liked on my HHR by using a stock image I found elsewhere. I was thinking about one day converting to a panel, so I modified the original image to give it that look, but I think this color combination would look good in both panel and standard versions anyway, as I've tested that, too.

I didn't modify the headlights or grill in my post, or did any kind of exterior mod, as this is mainly about the paint. I have seen some awesome work on headlights and stuff from some of you guys, though. I have lurked around on the forums before for ideas lol. Anyway, here's one of my ideas:

I think the contrast of the silver between the purple and gold really makes it stand out. I also considered an "Iron Man" color combo of gold and red, which looks good (red on top, gold on bottom).

Another, albeit a bit wacky, idea was doing an eventual AWD setup with a rally suspension, and paint it like Grave Digger, but it'd be a miniature version of it (though in the style of a rally car vs a monster truck).

If you want to play with the looks of your HHR, or just change the look of it as an experiment, check out Plasti-Dip and what is possible to do with it in our Sub-Forum dedicated to the subject.

Just click the link below..

Plasti-Dip/Plasti-Dipping - Chevy HHR Network

Also, be sure to check out the October Featured HHR on the homepage, Lunchbox uses Plasti-Dip to change the look of his ride regularly, it's a four wheel chameleon.

I can't place what it is, but the proportions seem off on that stock image. Maybe it's just my migraine, though.

Almost looks like it's stretched a bit, but I think it's just an illusion.

For comparison:

Streched and the beltline is raked from front to rear, that's throwing everything off visually.

Maybe I can't blame the 3 year old GGranddaughter after all. They really are great to have with a migraine.

Overlaying it in Photoshop and scaling 1:1, the proportions of both vehicle images are about the same. I think it is just an illusion.

With that said, however, what do you think of the color combination?

I've seen that particular combination in real life, and it looks good.

One of the counter clerks at the local Advance has an '07 Panel done up with a deep metallic purple-blue over black paint job. He has the two colors seperated by a red stripe, and I'll try to catch it the next time I see it parked there and grab some photos for you.
