Ok well the Florida sun Gods were smiling on me. After all that, although the stripes were extremely brittle and had some trouble spots, they came off clean and the finish is good.
I let the dealer's stripe guy do it. He went heat gun instead of eraser wheel to save the finish. We were all impressed how clean it ended up.
