Reaqr Hatch Door

There is this area on my tailgate where you can grab to lower or close the door. Is there suppose to be a plastic insert there? Mine is open to where you can look into the inside of the tailgate and has sharp edges.

Yes there is. Cheapest replacement would be a junk yard.

Yes, there is a plastic handle that goes in there, send a PM to Hellshotrod , he is our resident HHR used parts guy!

Part number is 1578315. Mine is stamped EBONY.
Shows Cashmere and Lt. Gray with the same part number.

Be careful when closing the rear hatch, many here used the Beauty Bar above the license plate to shut hatch firmly, but it caused dents on both ends of the beauty bar.

I push mine shut by pressing on my license plate.
