Nope, the piece was flat. Unless you're talking about the piece that extends over the back of the bumper. I'm talking about the small strip that just goes in behind the tail gate.

I wonder if GM ordered me the wrong part? Mine was curved to fit over the humped bumper of the regular. It was @5-6" wide and long enough to go across most of the rear bumper.

Yep mine fits fine. I'd take pics but my car is at the body shop right now (****er smashed my window and stole my 3 week old AVIC-F700BT).

So what is the final verdict? Will the 17801385 fit the SS bumper or not?

Mine works just fine as is. You just need to eye ball where you want to put it. Mostly it is just for looks and serves no function.

My '06 didn't have one. I went to the parts department at mt Chevy dealer and paid ~$50 for the part including the 3M tape. It took less than two minutes to do the install. Clean the surface, put tape on fascia protector, align and stick on. What I found "funny" is that it was a $75 dealer installed option. The parts department counter guy, though that it was a standard item on all HHRs.

Here is a picture of it on my SS. I bargained with the dealer to throw it in with the car, but I installed it. Very quick and easy, but it doesn't cover too much... I think the black accents mine nicely though.
