You have never seen an old hot rod or motorcycle with them? They are not really any brighter or anything. It is a 7/8" diameter piece of cut glass with 21 sides in a dome shape. They sit in a chrome trim ring in the ceter of the light right over the bulb. It is an old school hot rod and biker thing. I think with the lines of the HHR and the shape of the tail lights they would look great on the HHR. I'll post pics when I'm done of course.

For some reason I wasn't thinking and didn't post an example. They will look kind of like this but in red so I don't get pulled over on the regular.

It looks like it kind of, but those look like they are one piece. The ones I have are two piece, the glass piece and the trim ring. I don't really like those, I'm trying to rid myself of bowties.

Well I have the blue dots for mine and will be installing them as soon as I get my HHR. The trick to these is to get some aquarium silicon sealer and first seal the blue dots to the chrome trim ring being very diligent to wipe off any excess sealer, then you drill your tail light lens to the size needed to fit the blue dots (or what ever color you choose) and install them using the same process as you did to seal the dots to the chrome trim. Don't worry about bending the metal trim ring tabs since they'll not be used. This will give you a clean installation without having to use the metal tabs and will also keep them water tight. As far as the red plastic shavings goes when you drill into the tail lights, just use some tape and a straw on the end of a vacuum cleaner and suck out all of the debris before installing the dots.

Thanks for the advise. I was planning on using aquarium silicon, I already picked a tube up. If I follow your method I dont have to bend the tabs? Don't you worry about them falling out going over potholes and speed bumps? I think if I don't use the tabs they will get jarred out at some point. But then again the condition of the roads is a lot nicer in Florida than it is in New York.
