Running boards
Looking for running boards
OK after reading this thread I'm convinced that besides the aesthetics, running boards are a good idea. Now where can I buy a set? I did a search for "running boards" at http://www.gmpartscheap.com/ and had no luck. I can install them myself so I'm looking to purchase a set.
New owner, hell make that a PROUD new owner of a 07 2LT, purchased 01/12/07. blk ext, charcoal leather seats, manual trans, sun roof, standard 2LT stereo

Above link is discontinuing them, has them in primer only. Go to E-Bay, find E-Bay Stores, seach Assist Steps. You will find them there, painted for $429.00 plus shipping. Dealer called Bill Dodge has them in stock and painted. Site shows he has 3 in stock for each color. I would hurry as I do not think he will be able to get the painted ones for General Motors. You can buy them now, no bidding.

Don't need no title
Yo ENLLRON, Thanks for the information on where to purchase the runningboards. When I checked today Bill Dodge only had one set of them in black. Guess it might be worth the few $ to upgrade my membership so I can post some pics. Again THANKS
Quantumtn,
I have not gotten mine, yet from Bill Dodge, I could get not response from them. They sent me an email on 1/18/07, saying they were shipped, with the wrong tracking number. I have contact then thru e-mail and even call there. I could get no solid answer from them. Please write if you have gotten yours. Thanks

I got mine on 1/31/07, Bill Dodge went out of their way to take care of this. Boards are discontinued, and stock is running low at dealers for the painted ones. I installed them last night, took about 3 hrs. Not hard to do, not easy either, follow the instructions and watch what you're doing.
I have noticed lately, with all the salt they put down here in Chi-Town, that the PT Cruiser has the same spray area in front of the rear fender.
Even with running boards, the Cruck is coated with a layer of salt spray. I`m guessing that both rides (PT & HHR ) have some upset owners.
In reviewing the pix, I can see clearly where the salt pellets hit the fender, no getting around that.

Dropped off my HHR yesterday to have a few warranty things done like the front rotors and an issue with water in one of my emblems, and I asked the service advisor about the sandblasting issue. Happy to say they are going to repair at no cost and install and paint the running boards at not extra cost for labor, all I have to do is purchase the boards for like $565 and some change.

I am looking at getting the running boards for my HHR and found that gmpartscheap.com has the best prices on them.
However, since I live in Canada shipping was a bit expensive (OK it's freakin expensive). $393 for the running boards, $200 to ship them.
Convert that to CDN currency and it's cheaper to buy it from the dealership.
Talked to the parts guy at the dealership and they have the Daytona Blue Metallic running boards at the warehouse.
