I am not sure of what to do. This has to do with my HHR but mostly my black 05 Grand Cherokee. A shopping cart swiped the side of the Cherokee. I tried compound but the marks are still there.

I saw a Clay Bar at Kragen's the other day. I think Maguiars sells it. Wasn't paying much attention to it, but I thought is was a complete kit for around $12.95.

I bought the complete kit at Pep Boys and it was $18.99 You can see the Maguiars kit HERE on their website.

It's been raining cats and dogs here, so I haven't had a chance to do this. Hopefully this weekend.

I may have to try some of these tips, I had an unfortunate accident week or two back where a clump of hay was rolling down the highway and I had no where to go to dodge it and as it rolled under I was delighted (read: in tears) to hear the sound of bailing wire that was whippin my poor HHR ;(

Well, to take overspray or paint off, try alcohol, or Goof Off. They work very well.
As for paint do what the detailers do as mentioned before.
Wash, dry, clay the vehicle and use the quick detailer to keep it wet; wipe off as you go, polish the vehicle, remove polish, wax, remove wax, buff.
Crystal clear with 3-4 months UV protection.
Meguiar`s makes a 3 step process for $5 a bottle. (three bottles in all, and they are labeled). Paint cleaner, polish, wax. Works very well. Use this if your not up to doing the above.

The polish removes small scratches if done by machine, and only hides them if done by hand. Wax is for protection.
Do all three, and you`ll have a deep shine and you`ll take care of the scratches.

But if your near PHX, I`ll charge you a good dinner and I`ll do it!!!!!

The best medicine for scratches is preventive mantainence. Keep car waxed and polished. weekly coat car with generationx by MGuires or Nano wax deatailer. If you do this smalll scratches will simply rub away with wax or polish. Like someone has already said; if it is deeper than the clear coat, you have to have it touched up and painted by a professional in the area of dent and scratch repair.

You can use Langka ($40) or Mothers paint chip repair ($10 on ebay). They work with factory touch up paint. Use Zaino Z5 Polish & Swirl remover for the best shine!
Try www.detailcity.org/forums/ for more information than you will ever need on paint care.
