Last install I saw involved taking the inner door panel off. Can we now simply order a set of these these, unscrew the old...re-install the new?

Our kit has never required disassembly of the door panel.

It is a simple 15-minute install with basic tools.

Just a tip; if you were to "lose power" you can always recline your seat fully (lever, it's not electric), pull up on the rear door locks, and exit the vehicle that way.

Hope it helps,

There's really no need to change the rears as an arm won't hit them (if someone could find a way to put their arm out that rear window!). Also, the rear windows are tinted so dark it's difficult to see the rear lock knobs, so you are probably the only one who will know they don't match.

The HHR automatically unlocks the driver's door when put into Park, and all the doors when shut off (This is also configurable in the DIC), and with the battery being protected by a massive steel crash bar behind the rear bumper cover, I can't see it getting crushed in an accident.

We have not done any testing, but on many cars the locks are disabled once the airbags are deployed. Not sure if the HHR does this.

If in doubt; leave 'em stock and live with the bruises!

I put the smoothies on the front doors. I just twisted them off did not cut the rod put some silicon adhesivie on the rod and put the smoothie on. The back doors I cut the rod 1/4 in. and put the stock knobs back on. This put the indent at the top of the door panel when locked.

Has Anyone done this MOD?

Has anyone cut the freakin door locks down so that when they are locked they are even with the molding. I Love to put my arm on the window sill but you cant with those 3 foot tall locks. I wonder if they are screw on knobs, and i can replace them?????
