If you're gonna make them flush then won't the OEMs work? Just cut the rod more.

I just bought some on ebay. They're OEM Mercedes knobs, but I don't see why they won't work on the HHR. The link to buy them is here:

KDUGG, did you get those mercedes knobs yet? I'm realy intersted on how those worked out. Let us know please.

I haven't gotten them yet. They should be here any day now...I'm waiting with baited breath.

Same here...I won't do the back doors though..I want to have a way to get out if the doors are locked and I lose all power!

Okay, they arrived today and installing them as received they stick up about 1/2" above the door. I drilled them out as far as possible without drilling through the top and I got them down to 1/4" above the door. Seems like I would have to cut the post the get them flush (something I was trying to avoid doing)

I'll post pics as soon as I can get my camera to transfer pictures

Yep you have to cut the post for them to sit flush.
