Steelie Caps

OK so I'm back in the center cap designing mood. We have a small machine shop at work & I found some aluminum tubing to fit my project. I'm fabricating a spacer to fit the hub center & then attach a std grease cap. I'm working on the fronts now & hope to do a set of rear caps too. I'm having to make everything a 'press-fit' so tommorrow is my first attempt at putting it all together. More pics to come.

I dry fit the caps this morning & it seems like they stick out a little too much. It's back to the lathe to chop off another 1/2" & try again.

Thanks DLV. I'm OK with the little bit of silver to offset the black. That part of the project is complete. On the the rear wheels! I may go back over them all later & rework/paint or ? Gold anodized would look trick!
I cleaned up the wheels tonight:

And the close-up:

You may have to make some more of those, looks great.

What might also look nice would be to add red pinstripe on the rim like halfpanel08 did when he first got his HHR.

How about trim rings? That would complete the look.
