Tailgate Chevy Logo Lookin Funky

i recently bought my 2007 HHR used and have been inspecting it closer to see any aesthetic details that i would like to change / modify / or repair.

besides a small bit of sandblasting on the quarter panels and a very very small chip in the windshield im doing pretty good...

EXCEPT! the chevy logo on the tailgate (where the handle is to open the back end) seems to have leaked in some water behind the plastic bezel cover...

is this a common issue?
are there any mods or kits to replace this and how easy are they to do?
any non-modification/replacement way to fix this issue?

my lady is out of town with my digital camera so i wont be able to post a picture of it for a couple of days

Very common problem. It will be replaced under factory warranty. It is referred to as "delamination".

I bought my HHR used and noticed a similar appearance on the bowtie......may need to run to the dealer.

Related note, am I correct in assuming the ONLY way to open the hatch is with the rear hatch release under the bowtie? There does not seem to be any lever in the interior anywhere.

Has anyone had any issues with what I call the rear touch release?

Thanks.

Seemed to be a problem for the early production 06 models.......

Snoopy wrote up a great how to for the only alternative to the touch pad.....

Thanks for those links. So beyond using the manual way described in those posts, there is not a way, sitting in the drivers seat to manually release the hatch, correct? I mean, using the remote should do it, but not a manual, flip a lever from the drivers seat way to do it?

Bubbles in Bowtie Rear Hatch

Wow,

Here I thought that I caused the bowtie to bubble when I have used this area to close the hatch.

My wife's 2007 HHR doesn't have this problem yet but will watch for it.

Next time in for service Tigger will get this replaced under warranty.

Thanks for the info.

Thumbs up decal

I put a decal on mine, so I don't know if I have this problem or not.
