A use for 3/4" Chrome

A mod I have not seen and have been wanting to do for a while. I got the idea from our Buick Rainier. I hope it sticks....

Before:

After:

I'd like to bring it all together with wheel well chrome, but I really need the mudflaps and they interfere with chrome. Perhaps it would work, but I dunno....
The car needs chrome MORE CHROME!

Went to a car show tonight, check out the chrome:

I am starting to think that chrome is the only thing looking good on the Victory Red HHR!!!!!!!

Also, maybe painting the outer of the mud flaps. I asked about it today on the "Go-Kart". That`s what she calls it now.
Idea:
Painted to match:
Antenna- both Xm and FM
Mud flaps
Eyelids on the headlights
Grille
Bowties - front and back
Brake Calipers and Drums

Chrome:
Taillight rings!!!!!
Grille Trim
Exhaust tip
Wheels

Ya know, I'm feeling about the same way. Both reds really look good with only three things, white, black and chrome. Of these three, I preffer black and chrome.

Nothing else need apply unless someone comes up with a great flame paint job that blows us away

I too am waiting on chrome "egg rings" for around the tail lights. The stick on kind just doesn't do it for me

Oh, yeah, I took the chrome off the tail light. Even when sticking, it had shrunk and had a gap

I thought about doing that on the running boards, but doing it above the step, running it from wheel well to wheel well. I like the way yours looks too. Just squirming little minds...we HHR owners.

Hmm, I like that Idea too! Perhaps I'll do that as well. Two strips of chrome may look cool
I'm out of the 3/4 ". Either I get more or use the 1/4" or 1/8 " that are sitting here. I kind want to use the thin stuff for the interior, but it may be overkill using two strips of 3/4 so close to each other.

Thanks again for the idea. As I like to say "Weak minds think alike!"

Of course I said this in Corvair circles where the general aggreement is we were all looney and have lost valuable brain cells do to our heaters running directly off of our exhaust manifolds

Weak minds think alike...I like that. We are weak...because we can't resist the temptation of to do mods to our cool HHR's. Needless to say when I'm browsing the forum and I say to myself..."oooh...I gotta do that to the HHR" my boyfriend looks at me and says..."Now what have your friends in the group done now?"

Thanks! Shoe Goo will be my friend!
I took the tail light chrome off yesterday as it had shrunk anyway. Perhaps it will stay better and not expand/shrink as much if I shoe Goo the ends. Will do that the next time some chome gives me trouble.
Thanks for the tip

BTw, I put a small strip of 3/4 chrome up on the top of the running boards ( Just below the doors ) as Deb suggested, and It looked fine. I think I'll do it just beneath the doors and not wheel well to wheel well. The smaller chrome would get lost there. Just have to get some more 3/4" chrome.....
