What's the deal with the bowtie?
My guess is that they use multiple suppliers. I saw a nearly new Cobalt this morning with the same problem. I painted mine dark metallic blue to go to with the pin stripping I put on.

This is where mine came from, and the fellow delivers fast and is helpful. I used the '55-'56 150 & 210 scripts. I also added the dash script to my passenger side dash. They are very high quality. I installed them all with the factory pins as I wanted them on there permanent. I have a photo tutorial for anyone that wants to do that versus sticky tape. Best wishes and God Bless, Marc

Same script I used for my passenger side dash (I centered it between the left ridge and right vent...just out of curiosity why did you offset yours to the right so heavily?). A great and cheap mod if there ever was one.
I'm not sure if you installed yours the same way I installed mine, but I applied a piece of painter's tape to the dash, marked the four script pegs with magic marker, pressed the pegs to the tape to get my four hole markings, then drilled them out. Like you, I wanted it to be permanent. I love it...adds a lot to the interior.
As for the topic, no bowtie issues yet, but I'm going to see about having them painted soon...likely black.

Marc,
Thanks for the info. I take it there are two 'sizes', as one is $16.95 and the other is $19.95??? Where did you mount them on the outside of vehicle? I am trying to figure that out by your signature picture...... Again, thanks!
I also found out how the carbon fiber bowties were done. Just search for "carbon fiber bowtie" and you will find the process some are using. The carbon fiber ones were done by someone else for Mike from what I read in the posts.
Cheers,

Devils950003, the placement is entirely up to your eye. I looked at the "arch" in front of the passenger, and centered it in that arch. Just like the steering wheel is centered in the driver's side arch. The right vent is just added into the big arch to my eye. I tried it shifted left to be centered between the left side of the arch and the vent, and it just didn't look right to me. I guess you'd notice what I am talking about if you were sitting in the passeneger seat.....it's centered right in front of the person. I added my script to the dash the same way you did. I did shorten the center pin so it would be the last to be drilled.
MCT, the cheaper one is the dash script. It is small, and can be seen in the photo of my dash. It is fairly dainty, but some have used it on the outside. The $19.95 one is the one I chose for each side of my hood. They are about 11" long, and look great at that size on the outside to my eye. Mine are mounted between the hood break line and the bottom edge of the hood. They are back almost to the back vertical edge of the hood/front edge of the door. I hope you can see them on this photo better. The critical thing to think about is the angle. I think that the scripts should NOT follow parallel to either line (break line or bottom edge of hood). It sort of splits the difference to be level looking. I used a poster paper cutout and small magnets to get the level line, then used tape to transfer that line to the hood side. PM me with your e-mail and I can send the tutorial and photos. What I enjoy are the two things I hear from folks about the script: 1) that the scripts are way cool and old looking; and 2) that the factory put them on there. :-)
God Bless and best wishes, Marc
