06 HHR head unit install w/ scosche kit

Hello,

trying to install a new head unit in my 06 Hhr (no on star or premium audio). I’ve got the scosche kit and I’m just not sure if I can match the colors to the harness from the new head unit? I wanted to follow the harness diagram from GM but that connector looks different than what I got from scosche and don’t trust the pinout because of it.

i didn’t get the module to retain steering controls or the door chime

any suggestions are much appreciated!!

Which GMLAN adapter? Or. did you get just the harness?

I didn’t get the GMLAN adaptor, I was under the impression that was only necessary to retain the steering controls/door chime.

Was I incorrect in that assumption?

Would it be smart for me to remove the stock head unit and verify connector type?

Thank you for the reply:)

As we see in the directions, the plug marked B includes the connection to power and lights , and other features including steering wheel controls , so yes the lan is essential to the installation

There are a few reasons to use the adapter. There is one for steering wheel and without.
There is no switched (ACC) wire in the car harness. If you really want to you can source that from any of the "unused" fuse positions on the BCN.
Without the adapter you will not have turn signal clicks or other audible warnings.
If you know what you are doing on 21st century cars that are digitally controlled you can install without the adapter. This forum has a few horror stories from folks that thought nothing has changed since 1990. Look through the audio-video forum, I know that wiring diagrams have been posted several times with advice.

I just used the Crux CS-GM11B without Onstar from Crutchfield ti install my new JVC head unit and while it took a trip to the Crux offices to get it to work I can't speak highly enough about the Crutchfield and Crux customer service. It worked fine once the Crux tech pulled out a iPod adapter I'd installed 10 years ago and forgotten about so nothing wrong with the Crux box and they were as nice as can be even though it was my forgetfulness that made their box seem to fail.

When I looked a few months ago, Crutchfield had 2 options, one was quite pricey. The other, from combing through the reviews for HHR installations, lost the ability to mute the radio with the button on the steering wheel.

I have premium audio, steering wheel controls and Bluetooth, so perhaps there are other options for you.

The circuit is "generic", brand doesn't make a lot of difference. Basically a digital to analog converter (a relay) and a piezo noise maker,
Crutchfield is a good source for FREE advice, you don't have to buy from them.
