'06 Radio Bezel removal

Does anyone have details on how to remove the 'surround' or bezel around the radio so I can remove it?

TIA for the help!

Thanks.... I did a quick google search and was led to the same page. I'm going to tackle this tonight. Now, I need to find a good replacement. The dealer wants $60-$90 to program it to the HHR. I had heard of putting the unit in the freezer for a half hour. Your thoughts?

The freezer thing is a weird combination of "urban myth" and "sometimes it works with Fords". With a factory GM radio you won't end up with anything more than a nice cold radio, but apparently on some OEM Ford radios from back in the 90's, you could get them to un-lock by freezing them.(Something about the E-PROM's not liking cold temps.)

HHR radios are an integrated part of the GM LAN system(Door chimes, seat belt chimes, turn signal sounds, etc.)so its more than unlocking that's needs to happen, the programing done by your dealer allows the radio to "talk" with the HHR for the lack of a better term.

Yup, thats what I was afraid of. I talked to my neighbor and he said the same thing. So, I guess now its a matter of finding a replacement deck and having the dealer code it. Oh well... Thanks for the help!
