2009 HHR 2LT Bluetooth Capabilities?

I recently purchased a 2009 HHR 2LT. I have the standard Pioneer sound setup/stereo (no USB, only aux. input). On the steering wheel controls, I have the button indicating Bluetooth/Handsfree capabilities. However, when I follow the instructions to use these capabilities as listed in my owners' manual, I do not hear a tone or response of any kind; it only mutes the audio. My question is this: How do I check if the car really does have the bluetooth capabilities? If it does, how do I activate/operate them? And, if it does not, is there anyway that I can obtain them?

Any insight into this dilemma would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Chris

There is a code on the build sticker in the glove box. I will see if I can locate it.

Check this post

Check to see if those codes are listed on the build sheet sticker.

No OnStar means no bluetooth. OnStar is located on your mirror.

GM doesn't offer a kit for OnStar after the vehicle is built.
