Adding XM to Premium audio?

I have the 'premium' head unit but not the factory XM. When I asked service last month about getting the xm installed they said $800

I saw mention that there was more of a $300 sku for just the tunner addon for HHRs that didn't come with the factory install. The thread I saw wasn't really clear if it was pending or out, and I didn't see anything that I could give the dealer to 'help' him find the right sku.

I have a portable tuner that I'm using, and for $800 I'll keep using it, but for $300 I'd pay for the stealth/integrated tuner.

If anyone can help out I'd appreciate it.

TIA

Don`t they make a portable/interchangable unit, you could just plug into the audio jack?
Like a I-POD.

Yeah that's what I've got... would prefer the clean built in solution. If there's not a GM option I'll wait for the aftermarket to catch up.

You're looking for something like this:

This may actually work. You'd have to call them to verify that it will work with your head unit.

Thanks but also no :)

I have that same tuner etc for a Sony head unit so that's the first one I looked in to becuase for that system you can just buy the different adapters for the tuner->head unit for ~$70 at BestBuy. The GM one doesn't work with the new head units they put in the HHR, so everyone's back to the drawing board.

As far as I know there is no aftermarket XMDirect adapter other than the factory at this time.

I'm really looking for the factory one as the aftermarket hasn't caught up yet, and the portable tuner doesn't have anywhere 'nice' to mount.

That one doesn't work with the HHR Popi, we need the GM4 http://store.xmfanstore.com/xmdirect...les-xmgm4.html

which actually looks more like this:

I am confused. I have the upgraded radio and I thought it was XM capable. Is this not so?

The radio is XM ready, if you got the XM from the factory.
Other wise you can buy the rec from best buy and other places, but the problem is GM has not released the cable needed to connect the units. At least that was last years problem.
