Alarm (Optional Glass Breakage Detector?)

I have a 2009 HHR and I'm hoping someone is knowledgeable in the area of the factory installed alarm system. I've installed various aftermarket alarms in other cars, and all had the option of adding a Glass breakage detector. Living in the "big city", it seems that its becoming more common. Is there an optional connection with these factory alarms as there is with aftermarket systems? Is there anyway I can find out without having to go under the dash? Schematic maybe?

I believe ChevyMgr has posted elsewhere that the 2009 does not actually have an "alarm system".

So the alarm doesn't go off if the glass breaks? I thought that was the main part of an alarm?

Hi Crazy,

Your 2006, IIRC from a post ChevyMgr did does have a rudimentary alarm system; my 2009 does not, only a vehicle theft deterrent and immobilizer. Window breakage has always been a special feature with after market alarm systems. Maybe some luxury cars have it but we all know the HHR is not one of them beasts.

Many people put in after market systems to protect the personal “contents” of the vehicle. The stock “alarm” system is only there to protect the vehicle from theft.

I know of no supplemental input to the stock system for customization of the system such as Glass Breakage or Auto Window Roll Up, etc. AND I wouldn’t expect any from the manufacturer.

Thanks for the responses. I guess my only option is to install an aftermarket alarm system.
