Bass Question

Ok i have a 15" rockford sub installed in my hhr and a 620-watt plasma series power acoustik amp powering it. Now i know that my amp isnt the greatest but it is good match for the sub. Now my question is, I used wiretaps to hook my amp up using the high-level input on it. Is there a better way short of installing an aftermarket head unit to get better sound quality. It is loud and hits pretty good but i know that it could be a lot better. Any help is appreciated. btw, i hope this made sense.

The most signifigant way to improve the bass is with a custom built enclosure that has the cars transfer function designed into the enclosure/subwoofer frequency response. The goal would be to have a sub/enclosure combonation that will have smooth frequency response from the lowpass frequency to as low as possible. As for the amp? power is power...as long as it is sufficient for the woofer and reliable and low distortion.

In short? Build a custom enclosure...if you haven't already. It can make a much bigger impact that switching from t-taps to solder...LOL

You may also want to use a line level converter to convert the high level inputs to low level inputs to the RCA inputs of the amp. This can give you a signal with a high S/N ratio for a cleaner sound and more impact.
Rockford's 360.1 is one of the best units for this but Audio Control also makes decent ones. Do not use cheap converters as they will not do much for you.
