Upgrade the bass

Just curious is there anything to be done to the stock system to help get some more bass without putting a box or tube back there?

In the end it's not worth it in my opinion.

This has been discussed before, just search around.

You can get creative and wire an Audio Control Epicenter inline from the HU to the subwoofer amp. It will recreate the lowbass that GM has filtered from the HU with non-defeatable EQ. Just be careful, the stock amp is weak and the stock woofer is designed to be weak right along with it. Bass below about 50hz might be too much for the flimsy woofer and plastic enclosure.

ARG... I didnt know about the filter in the stock HU.... Damnit, I like the stock HU, but hate the filter. I dont want to spend more money to get around it.

does anyone know if the tweeters are in the same channel as the door speakers, or are they assigned seperately? I dont want to have to splice or lose any of the stock speakers (except the stock sub).

What wires going to the amp are the RCA's ill need for the new amp?

Thanks

The Epicenter and an EQ are great ideas! Wish I would have thought of that before I redid my system. I have no issues getting low bass from my stock stereo. Plus the Audio Control products (at least the EQ's) are equiped with line level adjustments so you can boost your signal going to your factory amp.

Shallow 8" Sub

Would putting in a shallow sub like a Kicker 08CVT84 and running it from an aftermarket amp make a difference?

Yes! You should also sound deaden your factory box and stuff it with polyfill.
