That works. Just make sure you word it differently if you dump it. Although it would be funny to see:

For sale 1 Bazooka amplified sub tube I no longer want because it sucks ball.

I have had friends who have used these bass tubes, even the bazooka ones and to me they just sound tubey, If you hook up a system with a tube and then replace the tube with an equal qaulity in box sub you will notice a diffence and like the box better. Now if you can find a bass package in a shape that is not a tube you'll be Okay. I know Infinity makes a squared sub inclosure outta plastic and it sounds very good, but then again your gonna pay ove 400.00 bucks for a 12. If it sounds good to you then go with it, if you don't like it take it back the same day and they should refund you your $$. remember you get what you pay for.

Tubey?

You know, I wonder if I could just make one? Except get like a few big pieces of ABS or PVC and put a couple of woofers on each end and wire them reverse polarity from each other. Make like one giant U-shaped bass chamber that fills up the whole back of the car.

Now that's tubey...or tubular?

kinda like the sound is in a tube (which it is). Get crafty and build a nice lil box to the exact size you want it. figure out how big of a sub you want, an 8 or even a 10 should be more than enough for just getting a bit (lot) more bass in the system. If your box ends up being too small you can compensate be filling it with polyfill which sorta makes the speaker think the box is biggeer than what it is. I'm sure some audio pros on here may not agree completely but I've done a few "on the cheap" systems and they've turned out pretty damn good for what I had. I had a buddy who used to compete with his car system and he had given a few of these tips.
If a tube sounds good to ya then run one, I just personally don't like them.

In high school I had a freind build a bass tube out of a 5 gallon bucket and tossed a 12 ( i think) in the top and bolted it in, it sounded okay for $0.

Agreed, they are a touch "tubey" sounding, but for $100 you can add some serious bass to you ride. All Bazooka's that Im aware of come amplified, so the wiring is simple as well. Just need a signal from the rear speaker(s) and power and ground and you are up and running. If you want serious sound, then yes, you would want a custom enclosure, but for the $$$, you can't beat em.

You can get them with or without amps. I used one about 8 years ago and changed the woofer to a better one after the stock sub took a dump. They are ok better if you use a better sub.

I had an 8" non amplified several years ago. matched with a good amp and replaced with a kicker sub, it sounded great. the bass can be a little "echoey aka tubey" if in the open, but I had mine in the trunk and it wasnt noticeble. for the money though ~250 I went with a 12" kicker, box and amp and get much better performance
