Dead Radio/Door Chime

Hello, all !!

I had to have my 2007 aligned and replaced the front tires. When I picked up the car at the end of the work day the radio was completely dead... no clock, no nothing. Also, the key-in-the-ignition-door-ajar or seatbelt-not-buckled chime does not sound.

The shop says that they do not disconnect the battery when they do undercar work.

I looked at the fuses and they all look intact.

Any advice?

Thanks
Jim

did you check both fuse boxes? one is under the hood, the other is on the right side of the console by the passenger seat footwell area

If you have the upgraded radio with the separate Amplifier, there is also that fuse in the inside fuse box.

Yes, I have checked both fuse boxes. As far as I can tell all of the fuses are intact. Is there any "connection" between the radio and the chime? They seem to be the only things that have failed. Also... I can't say that I ever noticed if the turn signals emit a tic-toc sound when activated. My HHR does not. Is that another failed system?

Thanks.

Mine make that sound. I think I remember reading a thread where someone put an aftermarket head unit in their car and had the same problem as you. No seat belt alarm or turn signal click

The radio is required for any of the "Chimes" to work. The radio delivers them to the left front speaker. So the fact that the chimes are not working is no surprise since the radio is not working! That is the logical connection you are looking for.

You have a "Radio" problem and I would say it was unrelated to the recent service. There are certainly many wires feeding the radio, but what is wrong? Could be a bad radio.
