Double Din Install in My HHR Panel

Pyle PLDNV695 install in my HHR Panel
there are plenty of Videos of the removal of the Waterfall Consul in a HHR and its simple.
the install of a full Double Din, not so much,
I had to get down and dirty removing some of the back of the dash behind the standard Head unit, because this Pyle unit was about half inch too long, so I went to town with a rotary saw, to make it fit.
Pros:
Easy head unit navigation plenty of POWER! very loud,
Blue tooth pairing is very stable, I phone 5 connection works well with a 30-8 pin adapter
cord.
pretty good navigation via the onscreen controls for your music via the hardwired cord.

Cons:
boot time isnt crazy fast from ignition start up.
Maps on initial start up can take a little time, but once booted is fast and accurate.
the Iphone 5 tends to get a little confused if you have the IPod cord connected and blue tooth at the same time, so its either one or the other reality wise.
blue tooth is recommended but then all music selection needs to be done on the iPhone
The SD micro card navigation is basicly non existent, so buy your self a small card cause all you have is skip, play etc.

Summery
Good, sharp image, plenty of volume, more stereo than most people ever need.

What did you do about the various alert/warning chimes, turn signal sound and On Star that use the radio and drivers side speaker?

To retain these above mentioned features . Antenna adapter , interface for steering wheel controls , and chime retention module must be purchased separately . The total cost for this install kit is below $175.00 including dash kit .
This link has an interactive web based data base for these parts .

You need something like this to complete this task

I don't think this addresses OnStar. I think the interface that includes OnStar is around $375 or at least over $300.00. That is what I was quoted when I wanted to install my Pioneer AVIC-Z3 in my '09. I was wondering what BritJoe did about these interfaces or if he did nothing and just no longer has the chimes, steering wheel controls and OnStar with his installation? I don't even know if you need an interface for steering wheel controls since they are redundant controls. The installation pictured looks well done so I would suspect that all the correct interfaces were attended to but I was just wondering about the specifics.

If you don't miss the turn signal chimes then all is good. :-)

Nah I was thinking of finding away of getting rid of them before the install anyhow, I guess it all worked out :)
the Head unit I installed does have the wiring to ad stearing wheel controls, but I havnt got them on my wheel, maybe ill look see if I can buy the steering wheel controls and wire them up?
can there be another way to ad a traditional signal light click noise, relay or something?

129.99 at Crutchfield
This covers everything in the premium system but not steering wheel interface .
All parts will not cost over 175.00 . Dash kit , antenna adapter and the above quoted interface kit .
