It is the fault of the gen III ipod. Gen II works fine. There are a lot of unhappy iPod users because of this. It is no fault of the GM PAL.

Would have been nice if the dealer had told me it would not support Gen III before they took my money. They had my I-Pod at the time of installation.

Same to you!

I guess the difference is that our HHR had the factory sub only. I know I made him turn it down when I rode with him.

I was lucky to find a 09 Radio on ebay with USB. Plugged in a 16GB flash drive and ditched my PAL.
The search/select songs function on the USB is 10 times faster than the PAL.

New technology is usually better than old technology.

Unhappy

To the original OP, I finally got to play with a GM PAL interface and it's just not acceptable. I could have raised a family in the time it took to move around. I have a US8 radio in my 08 SS with no XM (thankfully).

I friend has an aPAC GM11 and it's fast enough to be usable. Barely.

But when I think about it, what I want is an interface that:

1. Has an iPod connection and reasonably fast functionality;
2. Supports both phone BT and A2DP audio;
3. Has an extra aux in.

A combo of the PAC-GM11 an BLU-GM11 (adding A2DP) would be perfect. It would give us BT phone and audio integration plus iPod control. It seems that if they can do those in separate boxes they could integrate them.

For me, I would be happy with the BLU-GM11 if it supported A2DP and just control the iPod from it's face. In the end I am going to be looking at either the iPod or the radio to see where I am, so why not just look at the iPod. Sure, I might go to prison with the cable TV thieves and people that never turning in their illegal lawn darts but the iPod integration just doesn't seem worth it.

If the PAC BLU-GM11 could support A2DP (it doesn't), that would be a perfect combination for me. I could use my cell phone hands-free (which draws the most law enforcement attention) and play my iPod touch through the BT audio. A second AUX in would be a plus for when I want to use my portable XM or a non-BT audio device.

But noooooooo! No such beast exists (that I can find).

Is there a plug and play BT box that supports both phone AND A2DP audio?

Have I ranted long enough?
