To get what I want and keep the factory features I've been quoted upwards of $800-900 for a headunit with all the controls and wiring kits. As for the bass, I've got my daughter with me for most of my ride...I've gotten to where I like to roll down my windows and listen to my exhaust when she's not with me. My morning commute consists of talk radio so I just don't see putting any money into something I'll rarely use.
800-900 on a deck install?!?!?!? I hope this was a high end Nav deck or similar.

Nope...$450-500 pioneer double din DVD unit...may have had the NAV don't remember. All the harnesses for the steering wheel controls and bluetooth along with the basic installation was close to $300...one harness was over $100. It was going to be much less if I didn't want to retain my OnStar and steering wheel controls.

Too bad we live so far apart, I would hook you up.

I work at an independent stereo store and although yes you do need harnesses and interfaces to adapt to the factory stuff, it would not be that high.

Back in the day I had a Best Buy hookup. I worked there for a few months and the discount for car stereo stuff was insane. I've had nice systems in most of my vehicles and I've thought a few times about upgrading my Pioneer factory setup but honestly it sounds okay to me. I'm sure if I ever really start showing my car I'll have to put a couple of 10s in and new headunit but until then I'm cool with the factory system.

I just added speakers and an amp to my factory radio and my ride didn't come with the pioneer upgrade. I am able to rattle the rivets now though.
