How to power the antenna for my car pc?

Ok 1 last issue I am dealing with in my Car PC conversion.

My head unit and factory stereo is gone. Replaced by a car pc, EQ, 4 channel amp and mono block. Mp3's and movies all look and sound great. But I am trying to add my HD radio. I can not get enough signal from the antenna for my Directed HD Tuner.

I know the factory antenna is powered. I need to locate this powered antenna wire, So I can send it 12v from the PC when it is on to power the antenna for the tuner.

Anybody wanna help? I am getting conflicting information on which wire it is. Is it the Pink one of the factory radio harness?

Pic's and system update to follow after I find this last wire I need to tap. Wife is getting a little pissy I'm rolling around with my passenger seat removed. Lol

From an archived post by navyflier...

Radio 12v___________red/white__________+___________radio harness
Radio Ground________black/white_________-___________radio harness
Radio Ignition________(GMLAN Serial Data)
Radio Illumination______gray (dimmer)_____+___________radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on______same as power antenna wire
Power Antenna_________pink____________+___________radio harness
LF Speaker +/-________tan - gray_______+,-__________radio harness or amplifier
RF Speaker +/-______lt. green - dk. green_+,-__________radio harness or amplifier
LR Speaker +/-______brown - yellow______+,-__________radio harness or amplifier
RR Speaker +/-______dk. blue - lt. blue____+,-__________radio harness or amplifier

So it looks you can tap the pink wire for antenna power, but if that's changed one of the hardcore audio folks will chime in.

I know there is a red wire running with the antenna lead . The location is the passenger side a pillar behind the plastic trim. That would be the most info i can accurately give to you.

Updated info... The red wire i mentioned, I think it is the power supply for the rear view mirror. Very unsure and i think i gave you bad info.

I thought HD radio had died a silent death.

Not dead, just languishing in the backwaters along with Sirius/XM. HD radio is used by 3% of drivers, Sirius/XM is used by 5% according to industry data.

Streaming services like Pandora are now the driving force, GM expects to stop equipping new vehicles with conventional AM/FM receivers by 2016.

The main reason I want Radio is for talk radio and sports broadcasts. I have over 100GB of mp3's alone. Music is not what I am after, I can also tether pandora to the pc from my phone. So What I really need is FM/AM which my HD radio unit provides. If I could get enough signal out of the antenna.

Currently I get 1 FM station 98.3 some local pop 40 bull ****.

Football season is near and I have to have my Colts radio when I am stuck on the road during a game. Pfft.

SO it is the pink. 1 Last question, what kind of amperage does the factory antenna pull?

Which factory antenna are you talking about? I don't think the AM/FM antenna is amplified. PK to the front antenna is "radio on signal". Check your PM.
