HU install thread

While browsing the forums a couple days ago I happened across a HU install with great photos. However, not that I'm doing mine I can't seem to find that thread. Can anyone tell me where it is? I don't remember the name/title.

There are 86 pages in the A/V forum to scroll through. I don't care that much, you seem to.

Yeah, I had a quick look and there numerous threads, including pictures - I'm afraid you are on your own, unless someone here can remember specific ones and can post some links for you. Otherwise it's just a guessing game.

If you are going to install an aftermarket head unit such as I did shortly after getting my HHR, there are several items to consider. I installed a Pioneer X950 unit with a wireless backup camera and GPS.

- First, find a shop that you can trust so you can either buy what you need from them and have the right parts or have them install it.

- Plan on cutting the wall at the back of the head unit area so there will be enough room for all the new plugs and wires.

- buy everything at one time so you do not have to keep pulling things apart.

- Read the install instructions several times and find all the wire colors you'll need before any cutting/installing.

- Solder any wire to wire connections and then cover with heat shrink tubing.

Good luck

spot on with the soldering and the cutting out the back of the dash, its needed for alot of the after market head Units, the second Head unit ive installed in my HHR is a Android based unit and is narrower than the oem unit. its awesome too. Asteroid Smart.

Boy howdy Fritz, losing a thread here happens to the staff too, 98% of the time we can usually zip right to what we're looking for....but then there are the ones that get away.

If you can remember anything at all about the thread you viewed, PM me and I'll try to find it for you, but I can't promise a miracle.
