XM is an option, you need to have the 7 speaker system, but that does not mean that you have the XM adapter.
And your Cat Button will show the AM, FM, and XM.
If you did not have the XM on your sticker, or ordered the HHR with the XM option, you will not have the XM adapter, but your system is XM ready, minus the XM adapter.

So an XM adapter can be taken out of one HHR ad swapped into another? Do you think all the wiring would be there, including connectors? So it would just be plugged in and ready to be activated?

I will do a search to find the data, I just got off of a 12 hr shift, that turned out to be 19 hr.
But I will find it for you later in the day!

The add on XM kit comes with the module, the needed cable and a new antenna with 3 connectors. We mount the module under the console trim and then have to run the cable to the antenna, which involves dropping the headliner.

Your current antenna will only have 2 connectors (1 for Onstar and 1 for cellular). Since the factory XM is mounted under the right rear quarter panel trim, you will need the cable to run from the radio to the module (in the right rear quarter panel), the module and the antenna. Then a dealer will have to program the XM into the BCM, if this will work at all.

You would have to tell us since I don't think that this has been done yet.

Wow, thanks for the info. Sounds like a little bit of a hassle. I think I'll just go with the direct connect kit I found, or just a stand alone unit instead.
