Ipod attachment

Don't know if anyone had seen this yet, but I found it in the new Sport Truck magazine in the SEMA event coverage.

Looks like they have a clean way to control your ipod through the factory stereo and keep it charged as well. Not necessarily cheap though.

The mag just showed the head unit we have in the HHR so I figure it should. I looked through the site and found that I got directed to the wrong spot after clicking on a link. Maybe just need to call if you are really interested.

There is a factory option called the personel audio link PAL that hooks up to the facktory radio which charges the iopd and displays through the factory radio. You can also navigate through the ipod using radio knobs. You have to have a certain option that your dealer can tell you. I think it a "RPO US8 or US9" I just bought one for $127 online through Lynch Hummer the link is http://www.gm.oeaccessories.com/lync...FQgZhgodzHqVQQ The dealer said that this does not need to be programmed so I can hook it up. I will let you know when I get it and see how it works. I hope this helps. John

So if the factory stereo doesn't have the CAT button I.E. doesn't give song title and artist in the display, that means its not a US8 or US9 and the PAL will not work?

By the time i pay for an ebay HHR CAT button stereo and the PAL unit, I'll be way over an aftermarket system. I saw a Pioneer head unit on the discount table at best buy today. the face of the unit was almost all the LCD screen. I couldnt tell if it was double din or din and half. It control Ipod, iphone. Had inputs for usb, mp3, on front. Said it was navigation ready. $379 I was so tempted and may kick myself later for not getting it. Wasn't sure of the din size and I'm real anal about stuff looking factory. I hate the look of a single din stereo mounted in a GM opening with a plastic kit. Is our factory head units din and half or double din?

Normally I could never afford this, but money was set aside for the keyless entry/remote start and the car lot paid much more than I expected, nearly the whole amount.
