The kicker amp is amazing compared to the sony...the gain on the kicker is set a little over half way up, the sony was maxed out.

So you think it was a worthwhile upgrade?

For me it was definitely a worthwhile upgrade...night and day difference in the amount of bass. Also the infinity speakers in the door are very crisp compared to the stock "pioneer" system.

If you don't have the pioneer system you would have to get a sub box and tap into the rear speaker inputs like I did.

Halfpanel you can always purchase a factory sub box from another member or like I did on Ebay. They are listed from time to time you just have to look every once and a while. I got mine for $35.

My infinities are powered by the stock amp...you could put an aftermarket amp there. I have a couple extra laying around and will probably put them in later.

Alright, I want to install an 8" sub in place of the stock pioneer sub. What is the best option a 2ohm or DVC 4ohm? Also how difficult is it to install an aftermarket sub in the stock enclosure?

The factory sub is a dual 2 ohm sub ran in stereo to the amp. The amp does not give enough wattage to drive more then most aftermarket subs. I tried a Rockford R1S4 10" in mono to the amp and it only sounded like better bass without any volumn increase. Use an aftermarket amp matched to the speaker you choose and you will be good to go.

Some other subs that also fit in the factory box (with spacers like the kickers and or cutting the opening) that I found in my searching are :

Polk MM 8's and even the 10"

Rockford R1 10" if they make an 8" in this I would expect it to fit

RE Audio 8" but it only needs

Many Pioneers both in 8" and 10" and IIRC there was one 10" with a 5" depth and 95db sensitivity. This sub might actually increase the volumn level when used off the stock amp but that is only a guess.
