Kicker 8" CRV install in the stock box

Hey guys and gals, knowing now that there is no adjustments for the pioneer amplifier, I am considering replacing the pioneer subwoofer with an 8" Kicker CVR that I had in my Dodge Ram.

I noticed from the pictures that some of you had installed this very same speaker in the stock location. I am assuming you used the stock box. My plan is to fill the box with polyfill and stick the CVR in there.

My question is this, are there any installation issues. I mean dimension wise, is the CVR the same or similar in size to the Pioneer sub? I supposed really the main dimension concern would be the depth and if there is any difference.

Sorry if this sounds rambling, but I'm tired.

Thought I'd note, I hit the 75 mile marker, had the car for exactly one day now, woo hoo.

Thanks

Nick

The Kicker is a little deeper. You wll have to put a spacer in. I wouldn't put ant polyfill in the box that would only take away airspace. The stock box is in the range for the cubic space needed for the kicker. You will have to put some kind of spacer in front of the grill to keep it off the speaker.

Thanks for the information. It will be quite helpful. I think I can get the spacer ring with out a problem from my friend. However, I'm confused about the spacer between the grill and the speaker.

Are you saying to put something betweent the speaker and the grill to keep it from hitting while it occilates? A little clarification will help.

Thanks

Exactly. the speaker will push against the interior HHR grill if not spaced away.

I will let NavyFlyer explain how he did his.

10-4, Maybe just maybe he'll take a close up picture through the grill so I can see the placement.

polyfill only increases the amount of airspace, theoritically (sp?). we use it all the time.

Here is a couple of pics of the foam ring I use for a spacer.

Navy , are you running that off the stock amp? Is it a worthwhile upgrade?
