Looking to upgrade speakers in 2006 LT!
Hey all!
I just bought a beautiful Daytona Blue 2006 LT with 68k miles TODAY!!! Imagine my surprise when I stumble upon this wonderfully comprehensive forum. I began exploring the A/V board because one of the first mods I'm hoping to do is upgrade the speaker system (no Pioneer here) and possibly add a sub & amp to the currently blocked back panel (ideally I don't want a free-standing box sub). I've been exploring on Crutchfield a bit, but I was wondering if folks had any anecdotal recommendations for front pillar / front door / rear door speakers that prioritize an accurate signature (I love my Audio Technica ATH-m50x) and pack a fair bass punch for the price. I'm trying not to go too far over $200, so at the moment I am considering Kicker 46CSC654 for front & back and Infinity Reference REF-375TX for tweeters. Any suggestions as far as baffles / Dynamat dampers to reduce shaking noise? Will I really never achieve balanced sound without a sub? And should I also be considering getting an aftermarket stereo?
Lots of questions there. Thank you for taking the time to read. :) Looking forward to getting to work on this buggy this summer!

Welcome to the site, it’s really a matter of preference, the speakers would be a place to start, most people don’t install Dynamat, but I think it’s mandatory. The tweeters are fairly good , so change them second. As for a sub and amp, install those later.
I'm probably one of the very few that think the factory speakers sound fine. I upgraded the head unit to a Pioneer with SatNav (mandatory for my job), and it pumps out plenty of power to the stock speakers. I can key up the bass fairly well and there is little to no rattle or buzzing.. for the most part. Depends on what I'm playing at the moment. Do your head unit, run it, and see how you want to fine tune the speakers. You may be surprised.. unless your speakers are already junked.
