Well got one project half finished this weekend.

Making my own enclosure to fit in the cubby for my center channel.

Mocked it up to see what it roughly will look like.

Also, the wife put in work on her system this weekend.

Hey bud , you do have that JBL processor ? That center channel will be great with that processor and location .....

I do have it and love it. I've heard a truck here in town that also has it with a center channel and it is awesome. What sucks is I have 2 of the 4" drivers bought for it already and they are clearly not going to fit how I wanted it to be. So I'm looking to try one of these out.

Should give a very nice, warm natural sound and hopefully work well off the windshield for imaging. Fingers crossed.

Changes are not a bad thing. I have to make some changes myself.
Eric , I have a quick question . On the center channel , back in the day we used a summed mono channel of front left and right , in phase . Simply put , we would bridge the channels of a two channel amp and send it a mono summed signal of the two front channels .
I would have to do some reading about your processor , but does it send a summed ( left plus right ) to that center speaker .
Also one more question . You are wanting to run the dual 4 inch set up center because it is a choice ? Or is it because the processor wants to see two drivers ?
I know lots of questions , but Jonny #5 needs input .....

These guys are also know as planar ribbon tweeters . Well know in the home audio circle . Tube amps , turn tables and Magnepan planar ribbons are still popular with the old guys . I am an avid listener of Dave Brubeck and the sax should sound great on this transducer . The snare will be sharp and quick .....
My wife plays the Flute , Sax and Oboe .The ribbons sound very similar to the reproduced sound .
Enough about that .... You may do very well with the ribbons .....
You will notice it in the center of you dash when you power up the system , that I can assure you ..........

I honestly don't know the algorithm for the center channel with the ms-8, it uses the logic 7 processing for the center channel. There is a read up that the developer wrote up about it but I haven't taken the time to read it and forgot the link. Somewhere in a MS-8 thread on diyma.com is where I found it. But basically how I have to wire it, is using 1 channel of the RCA to 1 channel in to the amplifier and put the speaker into the according channel.

But with the 4" I chose 2 because I guess from what I gathered from a MS-8 thread, you want a large speaker. First thought that came to mind was. "I can't fit a large driver in my dash." So I got to thinking and thought 2 4" drivers would equal up to something.. Well it did and I can't fit it... -_- So I'm thinking of doing that planar transducer in the dash because of how well I hear they sound.. but I also worry about how directional they are and it'll be mounted, reflecting off the windshield which I hope will add some depth to the staging, but I just hope I wont be able to localize it, otherwise I'll tear it out and try a MTM configuration with some 2.5" drivers I have with a 3/4" silk dome tweeter.

Thinking about your reply ..... you would have better luck with matching the tweeters you have now with a single 4 and single tweeter in that location. Atleast you will he starting with voice matching speakers . They will all sound the same and thats a good thing.

Nice looking build. Those NE Vifa's look really nice. Nice kerfing on that center piece. Have you considered the NE 3" for it?

Have you powered up what you have in there yet? Specifically your pillar speakers? I am curious if you have or will have any rainbowing effects from having the mids in the pillars. I know I did and a friend with another HHR that has his Focal's up there does suffer from this as well. I moved my mr's down to my kicks and fixed this issue. Seeing two HHR's have this issue I am wondering if all our HHR's will have this issue with mr's in the pillars.
