New Stock Radio, FM only not working at startup

Had my 07 2LT since Nov 07, 7200 miles, intermittently the FM just refuses to come on. AM works, CD works, XM sample stations work. Turning car off and back on most of the time remedies this. Last monday tho, I turned the car off and on half a dozen times and FM wouldnt work. Looked through all the posts and didnt see anything like this so I added a new thread. Apologies if this problem is duplicating another post. I am contacting the dealer and I will followup with what happens,, just curious..

You need a new radio.

Well, I had my dealer check into it, they found a bulletin that addressed the issue and reprogrammed the unit. He said that the Body Control Module controls the Radio functions. Can anyone shed further light on that? So far I havent had any further issues with it, although its only been a couple of weeks..

I'm guessing they used the calibration programming from the static in FM bulletin since it is the only radio update bulletin out there for an HHR. I didn't think that would fix a no FM complaint.

So I will have to refer to my signature on the incorrect statement I made back in April.

The programming goes through the BCM, as a pass through, to program the module inside the radio.

The BCM only controls the accessory curcut that turns the radio on and off, and it sends chimes and turn signal "clicks" through the radios LF channel.

When your program or reprogram a radio the programming setup files will configure the radio amplifier (if equipped), configure the internal equalization settings, and program the vehicle identification number (VIN). Once the VIN is in the radio, you can't simply remove the radio and put it in another vehicle. The radio will loc and you would then have to be re-programmed with the correct VIN. This is a theft deterrent feature.

So when they say they reprogrammed the BCM they actually reprogrammed the radio module.
