Question Noobie questions???

Hello everyone! I just got a 2008 HHR LT 2 days ago. However I have been browsing these pages for quite a while now. I have a few questions still and the main one is this: My HHR has the Pioneer audio system, Onstar and no XM. Is the Onstar antenna also the XM antenna? If it is, is there already a cable running to the front somewhere (probably not)? I am a SIRIUS subscriber and I have already read that the SIR-GM3 is the only thing that will work aside from those Roady things (I don't like them). It's the antenna that I'm not clear on. I have only ever seen 2 antennas on any HHR so that kind of tells me that the Onstar antenna is also the XM antenna.

As long as I am here I may as well discuss my future audio mods. I'm an audiophile of sorts. I used to be an installer/competitor back in the day and still do it as a hobby. I have to admit that I really like the sound of the Pioneer system! So much so, that I plan on just maximizing whats already there by Dynamating the whole car. I will also Dynamat the heck out of the factory sub enclosure, all the plastic panels around it and adding polyfill to improve the bass. I want to add small enclosures for the door speakers to help tighten them up some (with tons of Dynamat). Might replace the front mids and highs for Pioneer's Premier TS-C720PRS components. Other plans are to add SIRIUS satellite radio and also a Parrot bluetooth device (MK-6100) which will also allow me to stream music from my phone via bluetooth into the factory deck. BTW does anybody have the scoop on when the GM3 will be out?

OnStar and XM use the same antenna. I don't know anything about SIRIUS except they are trying to merge with XM if the government allows it. XM can be added to your vehicle if you have option UE1 (OnStar) and don't have option U1C (standard basic GM radio I think). The GM part number for the XM upgrade is 17800594.

Hey thanks for the invite! Can't go on the 9th (setting down tile at my house). How often do you guys get together?

As far as XM or SIRIUS I'm a SIRIUS guy (yes because of Howard and CH23 HairNation). I think XM and SIRIUS are like HBO and Cinemax, no matter which one you have, all the good shows are on the other one! lol I miss Lucy that is an awsome station! Anyway I don't know what UE1 is but since I have the upgraded sound system with Onstar I'll assume I have it until I can figure out what it is? Just a note for you guys (in case you didn't know) XM and SIRIUS antennas are the same. Meaning if you already have the factory XM antenna you can hook up a SIRIUS tuner to it and vise versa (you just need a cable).

What Sirius unit do you have ? I have the Stiletto 2 and use it through the aux input and it sounds great.
