Question Pioneer Stereo Headunit Replacement

Hello, all. This is my first post here. Looks like I'll like it here!

If I replace the factory headunit on my Pioneer system and use a PAC C2R-GM11 to retain the factory amp, will I still have the factory subwoofer, or is that a completely different animal all together?

I've searched around and I haven't found anything. I suspect finals have adversely affected my Google-Fu...

Another good resource is the tech folks at Crutchfield, they've seen everything, and done everything, and you can pick the brains of their experts without getting a sales pitch.

I've actually already talked to the guys at Crutchfield. They told me there was no way to retain stock amp and sub, which I find weird. I'm just trying to find out what others have done. I have no interest in replacing any of my speakers or the Pioneer system sub from the stock system. I just want to be able to put a new headunit in...

Hmm...we'll they would be the ones to know, but our Members here who are hardcore Audio people might have a workaround for you.

Patience is the key, it can take a few days to get an answer to a new thread, I'm trying to think of one of our Audio Guys to have you contact via PM.

And when the right name or names come to mind, I'll PM you.

So, I've done a bit more digging and it looks like a GMOS-LAN-04 will do what the PAC C2R-GM11 will, but neither say whether or not I can keep the Pioneer sub, they just mention the amp. Which brings me back to my original question of whether or not that sub is part of the amp...

I haven't forgotten you, but every Member my brain has spit out who might be of help in answering your question is no longer active on the Forum.

I know you'd like to retain the OEM amplified Sub, but it doesn't "play well with other hardware", so a few Members have replaced it with a Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 Sub/Amp assembly which plonks right into the stock enclosure.

I'm still plowing through old threads, and about 99% of the Hardcore Audio guys dump the OEM Sub/Amp combo because it lacks "punch".

Now to my ears, which are kind of ruined by years of flying and racing NASCAR Modifieds and SCCA Sportscars, the factory Pioneer Premium sound system sounds great.

This thread below might be of help, but I'll be honest, my days of upgrading car audio are frozen in the era of Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette radios and a pair of Pioneer 6 x 9's cut into the parcel shelf.

I believe the sub runs off the amp , so if the GMOS-LAN-04 will run the amp then the amp will run the sub.

mind you a sub back in my installer days was aan assorted cold cuts on a foot long from the sandwich shop three doors down the block!!
