Aren't the brackets for the factory amp part of the body?

 

Don't know; I don't have a factory amp.

 

You could look, and if they are there use them. Might even have the harness installed. Behind the left rear trim panel.

 

Looks like either unit will fit under the seat but will stick out the back some because of a small bulkhead at the front. It will only be a problem if there is a rear passenger (I have a back seat in my Panel).

I'd rather not put it in the back because I don't really want to run wiring to the back. That's why I was looking for a power source in the front. I have Infinity Ref6500cx components in the front and Jensen DUBS265 in the back doors (HU is 25w x 4). Maybe a small booster amp would be a better choice.

 

Another possibility I came across is the Kenwood KSC-SW11 (11 x 7 1/2 x 2 3/4). According to it's installation manual (found online), Kenwood says to connect the 12v power wire (supplied) to the fuse block (instead of directly to the battery). I assume, since it's only 75 watts, it doesn't draw a lot of current. It's quite a bit smaller, yet still goes down to 35 Hz. I know that's just a number, but it indicates it has reasonably good sound for what I want.

Turns out, the max. current draw is 8.5 amps; the Kenwood provided inline fuse is 10 amps.

I installed the Kenwood KSC-SW11 a few weeks ago and it's working perfectly and filling in the sound greatly for my Infinity REF6500cx components. I used the BCM #6 fuse (always hot) along with a fuse tap (see this thread) for power and BCM #21 (if I recall correctly) to turn it on since that one is switched. The "power antenna" wire from my aftermarket HU was tied into the Metra Interface stuff, so I didn't feel like tapping into that. Thanks to everyone for their help in both threads.
