Questions on Installing Subwoofer
#11
Plastic....what some did was poly fill the box and then cover with (and inside) sound deadener ..its hard to get any kind of space volume there as after you take into consideration the thickness of the box material and the space between panel and skin. The stock box is contoured to fit the space theere and its about maxed out. There were one or two peeps that built boxes to fit ,,,but most just sucked up and added an external box...and if ya add quick disconnects can be removed for cargo. The rest of the components can be easily hidden in spare welll or batt compt.

is there a how-to or a write up somewhere on how to get to the stock subwoofer? i cant seem to find it now.. i started taking it apart couple days ago and its A LOT OF WORK to get to it, i literally had almost every panel apart down to bare metal to get to it but i cant seem to get it all off

To do it right ,
( The ugly ) Remove the rear seats .
( The bad ) The lower panel is the last to be removed
( The good ) Easy to reassemble ..
Seriously , remove the rear seats first . Look at the way the panels over lap each other . The panels in the center at the rear hatch come out first and second . Upper and lower . Remove the cargo rings on the drivers side rear area .Remove the seat belt d ring . Remove the upper panel where the window is in the rear cargo area . That panel is large and will go down where the rear seat was . Then you can get to the lower panel . Ohh BTW, the lower sections that cover the spare tire must also be removed .
Be extra cautious , there panels are super easy to break the clips on .
Changing out the rear upper break light bulbs, I discovered an over zealous bulb changer had been there before me . The panel had to be replaced due to the tabs being torn .
That would the short of it ..

LOL , it is very straight forward . LOL ...
Your choice remove the rear seat or not . I cannot get a ratchet in the with out taking a chance with the leather seats . I removed the rear bench seats , the panels and bolts came right out . Your choice , mine is to remove the seats ...
(1) Remove these (3) panels

You will need one of these .... 1/4 fit the bill , either ratchet or cordless impact . Ms Becky likes the cordless I like the hands on ratchet ...
It goes in these two locations . You will also need a 10mm socket to remove the cargo rings .....

If you can get a ratchet in here and pop the panel clips with out removing the seat , leave the seat in and skip removing the seat . When this panel is removed , unbolt the seat belt recoil mech and swing it out of your way ..
Progress Now !!

All down hill now , I would have all these panels removed , bolts and of course the rear seat out .
Now these few fasteners remain and you are on your way ... Do not forget the little plug above the seat belt holder , it think it is 7 mm ..
