All the tests that I have seen indicated the higher (mid portion, top of the windshield as opposed to on the dash) the better for reception.

Um, he is asking for ideas as to where to mount the control box and display, not the receiver. This is a remote unit and therefore the receive is mounted in the grill or on the licence plate bracket. I suppose you could mount the receiver up near the rear view mirror but then it wouldn't be hidden very well IMO.

How about that little cubby hole in front of the shifter?

actually you want to mount the receiver close to the front headlight or license plate...... when using the lazer radar one is trained to aim there to get the best hit on the vehicle one is targeting.

Thanks for the ideas. The controller and display are pretty small. Plan is to put the controller where the rear wiper controls are now since I have no rear wiper. Looks like the display will flush mount right below the instrument panel since I run the steering column in the full "down" position and it is coveniently hidden in the "up" position. In regards the the RF receiver, I am still working on that, since I want to isolate it from "heat-soak". The two front laser receivers/laser shifters should mount ok in the top of the intercooler grill as long as I do a neat job of trimming around them. The rear laser receiver/shifter is easy since it just mounts at the top of the plate.

reciever placement

let me know where you place the reciever for radar. I haven't installed mine yet because i didn't know if it would work behind the grill because of interferance from the metal on the grill

I completed the installation which you can see at the link below. The grill is plastic, so the RF receiver could be behind it, except that it won't fit, so I had to make a cutout anyway, with it partially hidden behind the plastic LP frame (plate is cutaway of course). The laser receivers obviously need an unobstructed view. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/hhr-ss-45/passport-9500ci-install-15687/
