Rear Speakers out

I have a 2006 1LT with the base radio (no amp). Recently, both rear door speakers stopped working. If I turn the fade to full rear, there is no sound. Since there is no common wire going to both speakers and its unlikely that both speakers would fail at the same time, looks like the radio might be bad.

I don't think both rear speakers go through a common connector that might have unplugged somewhere, but I'll check the wiring diagram in the manual.

Any ideas or anyone have this happen to them?

Looks like the speakers share a common connector at the rear of the head unit then pigtail out to the speakers. I'd think that if the connector worked loose you'd lose more than the rear channels so I'm thinking the head unit has failed.
