speaker problems

Just a fyi. I had my door speakers replaced with sony xplod's yesterday. My factory door speakers would work periodically. I had the base audio system. After getting the factory speakers out I now know why they wouldn't work. The speakers were not blown. The connector was bad and causing the speaker to cut in and out. I know some people have problems with their speakers not working so I wanted to post what I found as to why mine werent working.

Yeah, gone are the days of the crappy paper cone. Where you would leave your window down a bit, and water would eat your speakers.

That's what I'm expecting to find when I eventually get into my rear passenger door. It's gone, but has come back once or twice.

Bad connection for me. I finally got sick of having sound one day and hardly any the next. Sony's were on sale too. They sound good but not extremely good. But for the price I paid they are well worth it.

For me it was simply the speakers.

I noticed when I did my door speakers that the connectors had some corrosion and condensation on them. A good tip is to put silicone dielectric grease inside the connectors to seal them up.
