Speaker recommendation
Well I dont have more money than brains. Quite the opposite. Just trying to help.someone out. As for the tv reference, its like this. Why would a person invest in an hdtv if they do not have hd channels? Because if you are not watching a channel broadcast in hd, you are not seeing hd. Why would you invest in great speakers if you dont have a hu that compliments them. As for grizzlyoldman, thats your opinion.
Mine were replaced a couple of years ago with a set of Kenwood coaxles in the 4 doors. I used the original speakers as brackets. The cones on the originals were gone completely. Big improvement on sound. 6.5" are perfect.
these sound amazing and cheap as hell
I went to fry's electronics and purchased a nice unit with all the toys including back up camera. when they were installing the unit I asked them, should I upgrade my speakers?
He said no, Your speakers are going to sound better because of the upgraded stereo.
He was right those speakers sounded better than they ever did. It was the source that needed to be changed like the other guy that threaded said. the system sound awesome, and with the stock speakers

Considering the ambient noise in a moving car, there is a lot of concern wasted over audio quality.
Speakers are usually the weak link, especially factory grade.

speakers are usually the first thing in an older car to degrade, mostly because the doors are a terrible place to put speakers for their longevity, just too much chance for moisture to get to the speakers there....
it just makes sense to replace them after a few years of usage from the old factory installs, just about any aftermarket speaker is gonna be a much better quality than the old paper cone factory speakers and withstand the abuse the doors add to them much better than the factory installs did plus there's a few items you can add to help direct water away from the speaker and improve their survival rate greatly...
I'm a strong believer in Pioneer audio equipment but they don't make the very best speaker, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, MTX all 3 make much better speakers and aren't gonna break the bank to purchase any of them....
