Need help from an audiophile
Okay, so the time has come where I want to upgrade my stock speaker, but my problem is that I have the factory Pioneer 7 speaker system. I have read different threads and posts regarding speaker sizes or whatnot, and I want to make sure I order the right speakers. I am not doing anything to the headunit. So my understanding is that the Pioneer has 6.75 speakers in the doors. Are they all coaxial? are the front door speakers component with the tweeter in the pillar or are they all run separately. Also, the new speakers I get need to be 2OHM correct? I read that the pioneer system has 2 OHM speakers and the base has 4 OHM, and if I replaced the 2 OHM with 4 OHM than I would see a great decrease in volume and power. Why does this have to be so complicated!?!?! HELP PLEASE :)

Crutchfield’s has the answers, the correct adapter and wiring all in one order!
The pillar tweeters are separate

Simply look up your year select you model, they even ask if y’all have the Pioneer upgraded system

So, I called crutchfield, and for future reference, only one set of speakers would be direct OEM replacement for the upgraded Pioneer system with its fancy 2OHM amp, being the Infinity Kappa 62.11i 6.5's. The way the bracket is around the speaker it'll fit the 6.75 hole. Problem is they are 100 dollars a pair! IDK what to do, maybe get one pair for now and put them in the rear doors? I simply cant justify 200 dollars on new speakers right now.

All HHRs have tweeters in the A-pillars, with 6.5" speakers in each door. As you say, the Pioneer system is 2ohm. You can use 4ohm speakers, but the volume will be a little less.
Many people feel Infinity Kappas have more treble and less bass than they prefer, but I like them, I have Kappa 3way speakers up front. I make up for the low end with 6.5 mid-bass speakers in the rear doors and a dual 12" sub box.
If you are looking for a noticeable upgrade from the stock speakers, I doubt you will find it for less than $100. There is a post on here somewhere about using the mounts from the stock speakers to fit other aftermarket 6.5" or 6.75" speakers if you dont want to buy the adapter mounts.
If there is a car stereo store near you, best bet it to go and listen to what they have on display and decide what you want.

FYI I found in a different thread someone posted that the pioneer system in fact has 6.75 speakers and are installed with a factory adapter bracket. I am pretty sure I am going to go with my one option, the Kappas. Those who use installed them in an actual 2 OHM system seem to say they have adequate bass, and they have a button to reduce or amplify the tweeter. Now I am having trouble finding the proper plug adapter, as i do not want to cut out the factory plug. Apparently, even the plug is different than the base HHR. I WILL DEFINITELY take pictures for future reference when I start this project, but I do not know when that will be. These are what will be going in. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-gvYKEC...pa-62-11i.html
