You don't have any clearance issues with the Kicker sub and factory Pioneer grille in place? My sub was rubbing up against it so that's part of the reason I switched to the Audoibahn flaming grille.

Would it matter much if the sub is mounted on the inside or mounted to the plastic on the outside. Would it be a huge difference either way.

I put a spacer around the sub to ensure clearence of the panel. I used a 10" foam ring from hobby lobby. Works great, and you can't see it through the grill. I used the output to the sub from the factory amp. To a line level converter into the amp.

I used a Orion HCCA 225 amp that I had in my old '85 mazda GLC. The amp was installed in the mazda in 1990. That make it 16 yrs old. That means its older than some of the members in this forumn. LOL.

Very cool. I need to amp mine but I keep getting side tracked on other projects. I am going to make adding an amp to my sub my next priority after I get all the stuff I just bought put on.

Holy same setup Navyflyer. Well almost. I took an old (5years or so) amp and mounted it in the EXACT same place, but I ran it to an old sub box I have with some old ass JBL speakers.

Just about anything you put in the back of the HHR is going to sound pretty good basewise, do to the layout of the vehicle (hatch style vehiclkes are great for bass).

I would stay away from bass cannons/tubes, but thats personal preference. They are just cheap, IMO. Anything sold at walmart, isnt high quality.

18" solobaric? Holy cow, you would blow the top off the car. I wouldnt mind replacing the factory sub with a solo and putting another solo on the other side in a baffle, come to think of it.
