Just my 2 cents, but why would anyone expect any company to warrant a used electronic piece, EI a radio purchased used from somebody, now I agree that the seller most likely did not do anything more than remove the radio from his ride, and sell it to whom ever, that in itself indicates it is now considered used and therefore not under warranty.

I think he is meaning guaranty that it will function after they do the programing.

When I had my Airbag module programed they made a scene about guaranteeing the job, because I was the one that installed the 2 bolts and the connector. It did turn out that the tech was an idiot so he actually R & R d the thing because the TechII said it wasn't there he had to go looking for it. The secret was that the BCM had to be told it's there before it can be located & programed.

Called 3 dealers priced was from $110.00 to $150.00, returned radio got a refund. Then bought a complete steering column for the gray leather steering wheel with radio controls and turn signal switch for $50.00 in it. So now I have a spare power steering motor, controller and a few other spare parts. Also picked a a complete black water fall for the fog light switch for $20.00. More spare parts. Now Santa needs to bring me a new radio.

Hi There, Found a temp override for the replacement radio, On the radio, powered off, press the #5 preset then hold it while you press the SEEK FWD, and then press the Power On Button. This is a temporary override until you get it programmed by the dealer. Do copy all the numbers on the back and side of the radio otherwise the dealer will have to remove it to get the data. The portion of the VIN number is stored in a CHIP on the Mother Board inside the radio. Hope this helps. I think this is good thru 2008 HHR Radios

Radio in HHR 2006 1LT was emitting all static. Occasionally got an FM or XM station to work with minor but annoying static. Paid CARR CHEVROLET to diagnose for 1 hr. 4 hrs later they isolated to the radio. Went to FACTORY 1 Web site, bought replacement radio pioneer 2005, recorded all number from all sides top and bottom. Saw YouTube video to remove and replace. Very simple. 35 minutes for non-techie. Powered on got expected Locked msg. Called CARR CHEVROLET, the service rep said can'take program the radio without VIN NUMBER the radio came from. Went to BRUCE CHEVROLET, service manager said bring it in. The minimum charge is 1 hr. $101.00, took 20 minutes because they already had the program in their library. It's for the EEPROM that needs the info from the TECHII. I am very with their services. Manager Jason bought me a cup of Joe while waiting. Service writer had my rear dome light cover installed for free! Paid $30.00 and 9.00 for s&h from GM parts for dome housing and lens. BRUCE CHEVROLET Parts Manager made a copy with diagram and part number, so I would get it right. Originally quoted 750.00 to 800.00 for replacement radio and 260.00 for dome light switch from CARR CHEVROLET. This forum has saved me a lot of money! Big Thank You to all the wonderful contributers.
