I have had the same question... And an extender does not connect to the OE connection, Still looking for a good solution, I would love to see pictures of what someone did.

it will...take the plastic OE part of the antenna off...then plug your extender or XM tuner box in.

I have a pioneer XM tuner plugged directly into the factory antenna in the rear of the car...

this isn't hard guys

SpaceCowboy is right, but I believe he means you need to remove the plastic BLUE tab from the XM antenna, and voila! Extend it to your hearts content

Finally did it, I removed the panel in the right rear that covers the XM module. Unplugged the antenna (Mine had a tan colored connector) Once you remove that connector, it will plug right into the extension. I got a 10 foot one off Amazon for $10, after cutting a couple places where it was taped to other things, ran it along the headliner, down the A pillar, over the glove compartment, and behind the radio. Where I have the new XM module. I did put some heat shrink around the connector.

Can you unplug the antenna from the back of the receiver and extend from there?
